Reddy to rock again

Jim Magilton says the memory of their last trip to Portadown should prepare Cliftonville for the kind of challenge they will face tomorrow.

The Reds’ penultimate outing of their Sports Direct Premiership campaign sees them travel to Shamrock Park four months on from a disastrous afternoon in which two players were sent off and two goals were conceded in a first-half display from which they were unable to recover.

Approaching the contest on the back of five consecutive wins, Magilton has warned against any lowering of standards against an opponent that still has much to play for.

“The last time we were at Portadown, we didn’t play particularly well and we lost the game quite easily,” he says.

“It’s important that we go there, stand up to what Portadown will bring and recognise that it is a big game for us. I’ve no doubt we will.

“There is so much more for us to play for and we have to really embrace that and take that on.

“For me, it is always about the standard of the performance and we have to raise our levels again on Saturday.”
