Cliftonville 5-0 Ballymena United

Eric McWoods emerged from the bench to bag a double as Cliftonville enjoyed a five-star victory over Ballymena United at Solitude this afternoon.

Shea Gordon got things started with a wonderful long-range strike after just five minutes but the Reds wasted a number of opportunities to extend their lead before Joe Gormley’s composed finish made it 2-0 early in the second-half.

McWoods capitalised on an error from United keeper Sean O’Neill to extend Cliftonville’s advantage on 82 minutes and, after fellow sub Ryan Curran found the bottom corner for 4-0 in injury-time, McWoods wrapped things up when he lifted the ball over the advancing O’Neill in the closing seconds.
