Jim Magilton wants Cliftonville to continue playing with freedom when they face Larne this evening.

Four days on from a Sports Direct Premiership defeat at Inver Park, the Reds return to the east Antrim venue with a place in the BetMcLean Cup Final up for grabs – and Magilton will urge his players to take the bull by the horns.

“It’s a tough ask because Larne are a very, very good side,” he said.

“Their starting line-up is always strong and they have great options they can bring off the bench to add to that.

“We have to take confidence from how well we have played at Inver Park so far this season. Last month, we were disappointed to only come away with a draw and on Friday night, there were large parts of the game where we were on top but weren’t able to take our chances.

“We’re on quite a difficult run of results at the minute but our performances have been positive. We obviously need to cut out the fundamental errors that have been hurting us and keep playing with the freedom we’ve been playing with.

“There’s confidence to be taken from how we played against Larne on Friday night and it’s about doing that and going on and building on it.”
