Sam esteemed company
The Irish Cup has enjoyed some esteemed company since taking up residence at Solitude in May and this weekend proved no different thanks to one of the players who contributed to Cliftonville’s historic success in last season’s competition.
Proud Armagh man Shea Kearney was delighted to acquaint the silverware with the Sam Maguire Cup in the company of Orchard County star and GAA Young Footballer of the Year Oisin Conaty.
A former attacking midfielder on the books of Linfield and Portadown, Conaty also represented Northern Ireland at Under-19 level and was Man of the Match when Armagh overcame Galway in July’s All-Ireland Final.
Current Northern Ireland Under-21 international Kearney was in attendance at Croke Park for the game and, having seen his home county end a 22-year wait for Sam Maguire glory, was this weekend more than happy to get to grips with the trophy alongside the one he helped the Reds end a run of more than double the length for!
