Reds Turn the tide
Cork City Women 1-3 Cliftonville Ladies
Cliftonville Ladies kept their Avenir Sports All-Island Cup dreams alive with a potentially huge victory over Cork City at Turner’s Cross this afternoon.
Trailing to Colleen Kennedy O’Connell’s first-half opener, the Reds roared back after the break and a quickfire double from Fi Morgan (pictured) had the visitors in front before Caitlin McGuinness pounced to make it 3-1.
The victory kept John McGrady’s side in contention to qualify for the knockout stages, but their fate rested on the outcome of this evening’s Ferrycarrig Park showdown between Wexford and Shelbourne, where Shels’ 2-1 victory ensured that both teams reached the quarter-finals, with Cliftonville losing out on their head-to-head record against Wexford.
