Don’t Ashfor trouble

Sam Ashford says Cliftonville would be foolish to underestimate Glenavon ahead of tomorrow’s Sports Direct Premiership clash at Solitude.

Though the Reds enter the contest in good form, the Lurgan Blues were buoyed by the claiming of a last-gasp point against Linfield last week as their drive for a top-six spot gathers timely momentum – and they are an opponent that deserve to be respected, says Ashford.

“Glenavon will be another tough team,” insists the 28-year-old, who marked his return to the starting XI with a goal in last Saturday’s victory over Coleraine.

“I’m always complimentary with every team we play. There are maybe one or two that play total football and it’s impressive. Even the teams that are on a lower budget side or lower team side will try and play.

“It will be another tough game as always and you’ve got to respect them for that. Hopefully we can come out and get another three points.”
