On the Case – again!

Glentoran 2-2 Cliftonville

Odhran Casey was Cliftonville’s last-action hero once more as the Reds again left it late to rescue a more than deserved point against Glentoran at The Oval.

Trailing 2-0 at the interval thanks to finishes from Aidan Wilson and Bobby Burns, the visitors – who had gone close through Joe Gormley and Stephen McGuinness in addition to seeing a Ronan Hale effort ruled out for offside – roared their way back into the tie early in the second-half when Hale slammed home from long range.

The second period was virtually one-way traffic thereafter as Cliftonville went in search of a leveller that simply looked like it would never come until the 95th minute when Hale dinked over a delivery for Casey – who popped up with a last-gasp winner against Carrick Rangers 11 days ago – to nod into the far corner, sparking familiar scenes of last-minute joy from a large travelling support.
