December decisions
Cliftonville posted four wins and a draw from their five December outings – but who do you think was the team’s star performer throughout the month?
After a 4-1 win over Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park, where Joe Gormley and Ronan Hale turned the tie around ahead of a late Ben Wilson double, Hale and Shea Kearney were on target in a pulsating 2-2 draw with Glentoran at Solitude.
Another 4-1 victory on the road duly followed, with Hale bagging a brace alongside strikes from Chris Gallagher and Chris Curran at Loughgall, while Hale was again on the scoresheet after Odhran Casey had broken the deadlock in the subsequent 2-0 defeat of Ballymena United.
The postponement of yesterday’s Sports Direct Premiership tussle with the Glens meant that the month and indeed the year ended with St Stephen’s Day success against Crusaders, when Rory Hale and Wilson were both on target in a gripping encounter.
