Shear quality

Cliftonville 2-2 Glentoran

Shea Kearney rattled in his first goal for the Club as Cliftonville were forced to settle for just a point from a pulsating showdown with Glentoran.

Ahead when Ronan Hale pounced to break the deadlock with only three minutes on the clock, the Reds somehow contrived to find themselves behind when some uncharacteristically slack defending saw the Glens strike either side of half-time; Daire O’Connor’s deflected strike levelling things up ahead of David Fisher finding the net.

Cliftonville’s response was impressive, though, and, after Rory Hale had come within inches of scoring from long range, Kearney duly delivered with a rocket that roared into the bottom corner.

Both Hale brothers went close to putting the Reds back in front but, thanks to an offside call against Rory in injury-time, the hosts were unable to find what would have been a deserved winner.
