Glenavon 0-1 Cliftonville

On a night that saw Cliftonville strike the woodwork FOUR times, Rory Hale’s finishing prowess proved the difference against Glenavon at Mourneview Park.

Having hit the bar in the opening minute of both halves through Joe Gormley and Hale respectively, the deadlock was broken on 51 minutes when Shea Kearney’s throughball put Hale in the clear and he manoeuvred himself into a shooting position before slamming past goalkeeper Rory Brown.

The Lurgan Blues stopper’s right-hand post was also twice clattered by Ben Wilson in the second period but, with David Odumosu delivering a confident display behind a steady visiting backline, that single Hale strike proved enough to earn all three points for the Reds.
