Champs for dinner

Cliftonville Football Club places on record our thanks to everyone who contributed to this weekend’s Matchday Meal being such a success.

Staged at Cliftonville Bowling Club prior to the Reds’ Sports Direct Premiership clash with Larne on Saturday, the occasion saw supporters count down to kick-off with a two-course meal alongside players from past and present as well as our special guests, George McMullan and Marc Smyth.

With 20 medals amassed between them over a combined 668 appearances for the Club, the double title-winning duo regaled ticket holders with tales from their playing days, recollections of life under Tommy Breslin’s stewardship and their thoughts on Cliftonville’s prospects for the season ahead.

Our congratulations, meanwhile, go to Michael Hegney for his typically rigorous organisation and stewardship of the event, with our appreciation likewise extended to staff at the Bowling Club for their professional assistance throughout.
