In a Stew

Cliftonville Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of Sean Stewart on loan from Norwich City.

The 20-year-old full-back, who joined the Canaries from St Oliver Plunkett in 2019, signed his first professional contract with the Carrow Road side in the summer of 2021 and has been a regular feature in their Under-18 and Under-23 teams.

Having previously worked with Reds boss Jim Magilton in the underage international set-up, Stewart – who will wear the number 3 jersey – was called into the senior Northern Ireland squad’s four-day training camp in England last year and moves to Solitude a week ahead of our Sports Direct Premiership opener with Glenavon.

“Sean is a player I know very well and who I believe can do a good job for us,” explained Magilton.

“We’ve been working hard for a very long time to find players who fit into what we’re trying to do and Sean fits the bill of what we’re looking for at Cliftonville. I’m sure our supporters will make him very welcome and, like me, they look forward to seeing him in a Red shirt throughout the season ahead.”
