Prize of vicktory
Vicky Carleton has warned Cliftonville that there is no room for complacency when they face Larne Women tonight.
The Reds head to Inver Park with three wins from three in the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership and will come up against a side still seeking their first ever top flight point – a situation Carleton is well versed in the dangers of.
“Sometimes playing teams further down the table is harder,” she explains.
“They have more fight because they’re trying to prove they belong in our League.
“I don’t think we could have asked for a better start. The first few games of the season are always nervy but I feel like we’ve gelled as a team and performed well.”
As Champions, Cliftonville carry the favourites tag in the majority of matches they enter into but Carleton insists neither she nor her team-mates feel burdened by any additional expectation.
“We don’t actually think about that or talk about it,” she says.
“We just focus on performing well and if we do that, we know we’ll come away with the three points.”
