Home sweet home

Marissa Callaghan says Cliftonville Ladies are looking forward to a long overdue homecoming as they limber up for this evening’s Danske Bank Women’s Premiership clash with Linfield Ladies.

Some 10 weeks have passed since the Reds were last in action at Solitude and Callaghan – who is hoping to help the team extend their lead at the top of the table to eight points with victory tonight – is determined to mark the occasion in fitting style.

“Solitude is a special place, it’s home and we have waited a long time to get back here,” she explains.

“We can’t wait to get out there and put in a big performance. The players and staff have been looking forward to this one. Every game to us is important, we have worked hard all week in preparation for this game. We want a big performance from every player and three points on the board.”

With fellow title challengers Glentoran Women not in action, Cliftonville know they are guaranteed to stretch their advantage over the Champions with a positive result but Callaghan insists their approach must be the same regardless of what is at stake.

“We as a group only focus on the game in front of us,” she adds.

“We want to be the team that works harder than the rest. We have an incredible group of players and staff who want to be successful.”
