New Cal of duty

Cliftonville Football Club extends best wishes for the season ahead to Calvin McCurry, who has joined Ballyclare Comrades on loan.

The 20-year-old striker already has a place in the history books by virtue of becoming the quickest ever player to score on his Reds debut when he netted just seconds after emerging from the bench in a September 2019 County Antrim Shield clash with Knockbreda.

Though an anterior cruciate ligament injury prevented Calvin from playing any part in the 2020/21 campaign, he enjoyed a solid pre-season with Cliftonville last summer before embarking on loan spell with Lough 41 Championship side Ards.

His move to Ballyclare – where he will team up with fellow Reds loanee Declan Breen under the management of Solitude legend Stephen Small – presents a further opportunity for McCurry to garner vital senior experience and everyone at Cliftonville naturally wishes him well for the year ahead.
