Cliftonville benefited from another testing workout as the weekend’s double-header of friendlies ended in a 2-1 reverse at the hands of Welsh Premier League Champions The New Saints.

A Ronan Hale header in first-half injury-time gave the Reds the interval advantage at Park Hall but a fine Declan McManus free-kick levelled matters ahead of Leo Smith putting TNS ahead with 11 minutes left on the clock.
