Under-17s Cery on winning

Congratulations to Cliftonville’s Cerys Madden, who was part of the Northern Ireland Women Under-17s squad that this week won all three of their European Championship Qualifiers in Israel.

An unused substitute for the victories over Luxembourg and the Faroe Islands, Madden was introduced from the bench for yesterday’s final League B Group 1 Qualifying Round Two tie with the host nation at the Ramat Gan National Stadium, where Northern Ireland claimed a 2-0 success courtesy of goals from Rachel McIntyre and Sarah Tweedie.

The team’s perfect record means Alfie Wylie’s side have achieved promotion to League A and will thus be involved  in the elite section of the next Women’s Under-17 Euro qualifiers.
