Rom at the top

Marissa Callaghan and Kirsty McGuinness both featured as Northern Ireland Women completed their three-game camp in Marbella with a friendly defeat to Romania this morning.

After overcoming the Faroe Islands in their opening game before drawing with Switzerland, Kenny Shiels’ side had been hoping to end their trip on a positive note but Carmen Marcu’s goal early in the second-half proved enough to settle the issue.

Callaghan (pictured) was substituted shortly afterwards and McGuinness saw a free-kick strike the woodwork, while the duo’s fellow Cliftonville team-mates Kelsie Burrows and Caitlin McGuinness were unused subs for the game.
