Academy announces Belfast Met link
Cliftonville Football Club are pleased to announce a partnership with Belfast Metropolitan College.
Belfast Met is the largest education provider in Northern Ireland and this partnership with Ireland’s Oldest Football Club will provide boys and girls in our Academy with the opportunity to study for a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sporting Excellence and Performance whilst developing their football ability through exposure to full-time training and Strength and Conditioning.
The partnership with Belfast Met provides a unique pathway to internationally recognised qualifications, whilst gaining access to world-class coaching and training facilities, as well as to sports science and sports medicine services. This two-year programme is equivalent to three A Levels and, through our partnerships, participants will also enjoy the chance to gain coaching, officiating and employability qualifications, as well as valuable work experience.
Successful students will have the opportunity to seek employment in professional sports careers – both as a player and a coach – or as sports development assistants, fitness consultants, health & physical activity co-ordinators or leisure centre assistants.
Students can also progress onto higher education courses such as Sports Scholarship Programmes in the United States of America, Higher National Diploma courses in Sports Coaching & Development, Higher National Diploma courses in Sport & Exercise Science or the Foundation Degree in Health, Physical Activity & Sport, in addition to an Honours Degree at University.
Further information about this exciting opportunity can be found by emailing Darren McWilliams at Belfast Met (djmcwilliams@belfastmet.ac.uk) or Marc Smyth at Cliftonville FC (marc@cliftonvillefc.net).
