Conor McDermott says that he and his Cliftonville team-mates are hungry to build on their perfect Danske Bank Premiership home record when they host Crusaders tomorrow.

The Reds have won every League game at Solitude so far this season and, while acknowledging that form alone will not be enough to earn full points on North Belfast Derby Day, he believes that a crammed-to-capacity Red Army can play a major role in the eagerly-anticipated showdown.

“We’ve dusted ourselves off and got ourselves prepared for this one because it’s a massive game against our rivals,” he says.

“We want to stay up there in the mix at the top of the table, so we have to be on our game.

“I’ve only played a handful of games so far, but I can feel the buzz around the place and feel that when teams come here, they fear us and Solitude.

“We want to keep that going because when you get the home fans with you and you get the results, everything is going well.”

You can read the full McDermott interview in tomorrow’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for £3.

Featuring pre-match views from the Manager’s Office, The Red Eye’s 16th issue of the campaign looks at the Crues’ prospects for the second half of the campaign and steps 83, 28 and 17 years back down memory lane – plus plenty more besides.

Our Matchday Magazine attained a top-three position in the NI Football Programme Collectors’ last eight annual awards polls – assuming the runners-up position on six of those occasions – so, if you’re not a regular reader, why not take a look at what you’ve been missing out on?
