Cliftonville Ladies 6-2 Sion Swifts Ladies

Cliftonville Ladies brought the curtain down on a memorable season with a 6-2 victory over Sion Swifts Ladies at Solitude this evening.

Though they missed out on the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership title by just three points, the very fact that they pushed Champions Glentoran Women all the way only served to underline the Reds’ expectation-defying achievements over the last five months.

Doubles for Kirsty McGuinness and Fi Morgan alongside strikes from Louise McDaniel and Caitlin McGuinness saw Cliftonville sign off with an appropriate flourish and took their goal return to 73 in 20 matches – while Sion’s brace brought the overall strike count for this season’s Reds fixtures to a round 100.
