Game, Sept and match for Dáithí

Dáithí Mac Gabhann’s strike during Cliftonville’s Danske Bank Premiership defeat of Warrenpoint Town is today named the cliftonvillefc.net Goal of the Month for September.

Though he faced stiff competition from Levi Ives’ free-kick against Harland & Wolff Welders as well as Joe Gormley’s acrobatic finish in the win over Dungannon Swifts, Dáithí’s unstoppable half-time effort – which sent goalkeeper Luke McNicholas the wrong way – emerged on top.

Four-year-old Dáithí was born with a very rare and life-threatening congenital heart defect and, with all medical options having been exhausted in his fight against a leak in his tricuspid valve, his parents Máirtín and Seph are trying to raise awareness around organ donation – which you can sign up for here.

We were delighted to welcome the family and back their Donate4Dáithí campaign last weekend and are pleased to take this further opportunity to encourage our fans to show their support by highlighting the family’s appeal via their dedicated Facebook and Twitter platforms.
