Up for the Cup

Cliftonville Olympic’s season gets under way tomorrow when they welcome Carrick Rangers Reserves to Solitude for a Steel & Sons Cup second round tie.

As well as being new boss Marc Smyth’s first game at the helm, the match also represents the Olympic’s first competitive fixture since football’s initial pandemic-enforced shutdown.

What’s more, the encounter is the first in a double-header of meetings with Carrick, against whom the Reds will begin their defence of the Premiership Development League title at the Belfast Loughshore Hotel Arena next Saturday.

The Gers also present the opposition for Cliftonville Strollers’ Under-18 Academy League fixture tonight, with the Clubs’ Under-16 teams locking horns at Taylors Avenue tomorrow morning while, in the Electric Ireland Women’s Academy League, Cliftonville Corinthians host Linfield Ladies Swifts this evening as they bid to close the gap on Sion Swifts at the top of the table.
