Fifteens to won

Congratulations to Cliftonville Under 15s, who lifted the Under 15 League Cup after overcoming Glenavon 3-1 earlier today.

Kevin McGuinness and Callum Cunningham were on target at Allen Park as the Wee Reds soared to the silverware at the end of a hard-fought campaign.

Their League Cup exploits began at the group stage alongside Oliver Plunkett, Warrenpoint Town and today’s opponents Glenavon before the second phase saw them progress further courtesy of victories over Maiden City and Dungannon United Youth.

In the semi-final, goals from McGuinness and Cunningham helped Cliftonville overcome Glentoran to set up this morning’s decisive encounter with the Lurgan Blues in Antrim.

After falling behind, the Reds drew level through McGuinness before Cunningham handed them an advantage that was extended by McGuinness’ second goal of the day, sealing the win and the trophy.

As well as saluting the efforts of the players, credit must also go to coaches Oliver McCart, Neil Privilege and Matthew Harris and indeed the parents and families of the young Reds outfit, whose success is commended by everyone at Solitude.
