Building blocks

Jamie Harney hopes Cliftonville can build on Monday’s point at Glenavon when they welcome Coleraine to Solitude on Danske Bank Premiership duty tomorrow night.

Speaking in the latest edition of our Matchday Magazine, Harney – who returned from five weeks out through injury in the 1-1 draw at Mourneview Park – says the Reds are working hard to kickstart their season after banking the first away point of their travels, but is well aware that the Bannsiders are in a similar predicament.

“There never is a lot between us and Coleraine,” he says.

“I think we’re maybe both not happy with our starts to the season so we’re both going to be looking to kickstart things for ourselves.

“We all know that the Christmas period is a big one for us. It will be a difficult game, we’re under no illusions. Hopefully we can build on the point against Glenavon and give a good performance and get the three points.”

On recent absences, he adds: “I think it’s been difficult for the team with the injuries and definitely it’s been difficult individually.

“I was really happy to be out there on Monday and helping the team but there are improvements to be made all over.”

You can read the full Harney interview in tomorrow’s digital edition of The Red Eye, which will be available here on cliftonvillefc.net ahead of kick-off.

Featuring pre-match views from the Manager’s Office, The Red Eye’s ninth issue of the campaign carries all the stats behind the Reds’ recent form and a look at Coleraine’s progress – plus plenty more besides.
