The final hurdle

Our Away Kit Battle has come down to one last poll.

Amid a comprehensive examination of every Cliftonville reverse shirt of the last 30 years, Reds fans young and old have cast thousands of votes to whittle 30 options down to just two – with the title-winning ensemble from the 1997/98 season facing off against the shamrock-glad strip worn on the road between 2018 and earlier this year.

But, as we open up our poll until noon on Monday, which do you think deserves the accolade of being Cliftonville’s best ever away shirt?

Premier League Champions Gold
Supplier: Le Coq Sportif
Sponsor: KitKat
Worn: 1997/98
Notes: Treasured for being the away strip during the team’s Premier League title-winning term, season-defining wins at Shamrock Park and Seaview (on an afternoon often remembered for an infamous on-field scuffle) made this one-campaign wonder a favourite among fans.

Shamrock Fades
Supplier: Puma
Sponsor: Sean Graham
Worn: 2018/19, 2019/20
Notes: This strip was marketed to recognise the 140th season of Ireland’s Oldest Football Club and such was the global popularity of the jersey sporting a chest-panel of shamrocks that stock has consistently sold out in all sizes.
