Fon’s ringing brightly again

Organisers were delighted to this weekend herald the return of the hugely popular fonaCAB Development League following an elongated absence.

Recent years have seen Solitude play host to a string of teams across various age-groups, where boys and girls contest games consisting of three 12-minute periods in a fun and simplified environment on Saturday mornings – with players, coaches and parents alike thrilled to get back to action in new Covid-aware conditions.

As the season progresses, hundreds of players representing scores of teams from near and far will play their part in our expansive initiative, which yesterday saw line-ups from Glentoran, Springfield Star, Ardoyne Youth Club, St James’ Swifts, East Belfast, Kelvin Youth, Shankill Juniors, St Malachy’s, Bloomfield, Sandy Row, Belfast Swifts, Belfast Celtic, Cumann Spoirt An Phobail and, of course, Cliftonville among others take to the pitch at a sunny Solitude.
