Challenge Cup cancellation

The County Antrim & District Football Association has confirmed that this season’s County Antrim Challenge Cup will not take place.

Cliftonville Ladies – who lifted the trophy in 2018 – had been due to face Downpatrick Ladies in the opening phase of the competition, with a home game against either Larne Ladies or Ballymena United Allstars awaiting the winners in the Quarter Finals, however a statement released by the Co Antrim & District FA advises that “Given the current situation and particularly restrictions relating to football, the Committee have determined that the competition cannot be completed and the cancellation of such will allow teams further capacity to complete League fixtures, should the current restrictions be lifted.”
