Decky targets final push
Declan Dunne says Cliftonville must treat every game like a Cup Final between now and the end of the season.
Disappointed to drop points against Dungannon Swifts on their last Danske Bank Premiership engagement a fortnight ago, the Reds return to action when they play host to Ballymena United tomorrow – and goalkeeper Dunne is well aware of the significance of the occasion if Paddy McLaughlin’s side want to remain in the mix at the top end of the table.
“It happens a couple of times this season,” says the 19-year-old.
“We’ve dropped points against teams that are lower than us in the League – Dungannon Swifts and Carrick.
“We’re not out of it yet but we’re not in it completely. It will be tough but we’ve got to take every game like it’s a Cup Final.”
You can read the full Dunne interview in tomorrow’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for £3.
Featuring pre-match views from the Manager’s Office, The Red Eye’s 22nd issue of the campaign carries your latest player poster, looks at the stats behind the Sky Blues’ recent form and steps 23, 34 and 45 years back down memory lane – plus plenty more besides.
Our Matchday Magazine has attained a top-three position in the NI Football Programme Collectors’ annual awards poll for the last eight seasons – assuming the runners-up position on six of those occasions – so, if you’re not a regular reader, why not take a look at what you’ve been missing out on?
