Olympic Carri on winning

Cliftonville Olympic stretched their lead at the top of the Premiership Development League with a 3-0 victory over Carrick Rangers Reserves this evening.

Calvin McCurry opened the scoring in the first-half before late goals from Dylan Snoddon and Peter McKiernan sealed the success that saw the Reds pull 11 points clear with a game in hand.

In a hard-fought contest, Brendan Lynch’s side broke the deadlock just past the half-hour when Snoddon teed McCurry up for a well-taken finish.

The second-half proved a tense affair that required the visitors to dig in and battle for their win and it wasn’t until three minutes from time that they doubled their advantage when a foul on McCurry earned a penalty which Snoddon stepped up to convert.

There was still time for the Olympic to add a third; Donal Rocks supplying the pass from which McKiernan found the bottom corner with a volley.
