Aaron Harkin continued his comeback from injury with two assists as Cliftonville Olympic claimed a 6-1 victory over Coleraine Reserves this afternoon.

The 26-year-old midfielder – who played the opening 45 minutes at Solitude – provided the first two goals as Brendan Lynch’s side extended their lead at the top of the Premiership Development League to nine points with a game in hand.

The breakthrough came after just 11 minutes when Harkin set Peter McKiernan through on the keeper and ‘Skeet’ made no mistake with a confident finish.

Harkin also provided the assist for Calvin McCurry to double the advantage on 27 minutes before the Reds extended their advantage further on 51 minutes when McKiernan registered his second of the day after good approach work from Donal Rocks.

The fourth came from Padraig Slane almost immediately ahead of a foul on McCurry earning Dylan Snoddon the opportunity to make it 5-0 from the penalty spot.

While the visitors pulled a goal back with just over 20 minutes remaining, Paul Scullion would have the final say when he found the net in the closing stages.
