Paddy McLaughlin has called on the Red Army to raise Solitude’s roof in tonight’s Europa League Play-Off Final.
Cliftonville take on Glentoran at Solitude (5.30pm) for the Danske Bank Premiership’s sole remaining European berth and McLaughlin, who hailed the fans’ contribution to the Semi Final victory over Coleraine in midweek, wants his men to go into battle backed by a vociferous home support.
“The fans have been great in the entire time I’ve been here and have always got behind the players,” he says.
“Anyone who was there on Tuesday saw the difference they made. There were times in the game where it looked like it was getting away from us but the players didn’t give up, the fans didn’t give up and everybody played their part.
“We’ve given ourselves a chance of qualifying for Europe but it’s about seeing the job through now. We have to make the most of home advantage and, with the game being at Solitude, it would be brilliant to play the game in the same kind of atmosphere we had on Tuesday.
“That noise was something else and I know the players would love to hear it even louder tonight.”
