Conor McMenamin says Cliftonville must reproduce the battling spirit they displayed in Tuesday’s Europa League Semi Final victory over Coleraine if they are to come out on top against Glentoran in tomorrow’s Final.

Twice trailing by two goals, the Reds produced a stirring turnaround in front of a vociferous home support, who were overjoyed when McMenamin broke away to round-off the scoring in a 5-3 success late in Extra Time.

The versatile former Warrenpoint Town man was delighted to play his part in such a memorable display but asserts that a repeat performance will be necessary when the Glens visit Solitude this weekend.

“Everyone dug in against Coleraine, everybody gave a hundred per cent, we couldn’t have faulted anyone,” he says.

“I was cramping up, as were others, and I think everyone played their part.

“It was great to be a part of, there was some buzz and hopefully we can experience that again in this last game.”

You can read the full McMenamin interview in tomorrow’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for £2.50.

Alongside your latest player poster, The Red Eye’s 27th issue of the campaign reflects on the Glens’ upturn in fortunes and steps 112, 101 and 73 years back down memory lane – plus plenty more besides.

Our Matchday Magazine has attained a top-three position in the NI Football Programme Collectors’ annual awards poll for the last seven seasons – assuming the runners-up position on six of those occasions – so, if you’re not a regular reader, why not take a look at what you’ve been missing out on?
