Lav aid for Olympic

Ross Lavery was on target twice as Cliftonville Olympic won last night’s North Belfast Derby clash with Crusaders Reserves.

The deadlock was broken early on when some neat link-up play between Paul McAdorey and Stephen Garrett allowed Lavery to provide the finish.

An own goal from Padraig Slane’s free-kick delivery doubled the hosts’ advantage before Slane – who found the net when St Malachy’s College won Monday’s Danske Bank Schools’ Cup Final – got his name on the score sheet when he reacted quickest to Odhran Casey’s flick-on to make it 3-0 to the Reds before half-time.

Lavery registered his second of the night after the interval when he applied the finish to a fantastic Dylan Whiteway pass and, though the Crues reduced the arrears from the penalty spot, the Olympic side were full value for all three points in an emphatic derby display.
