Making themselves third

Congratulations to Marissa Callaghan, who captained Northern Ireland Women to third place in the Turkish Cup.

The midfielder was joined by Cliftonville team-mate Emma McMaster in the squad that finished runners-up to eventual Champions France B in the competition’s group phase courtesy of last Wednesday’s 6-0 defeat of Jordan and 4-0 victory over Kazakhstan on Sunday.

Those six points secured Northern Ireland’s progress to this morning’s Third Place Play-Off with Uzbekistan, when early goals contributed to a 2-1 success.
