Five fold
Cliftonville Ladies suffered a heavy defeat in this evening’s Electric Ireland Irish Cup Semi Final clash with Glentoran Women.
Having lost the Premiership League Cup decider before lifting the County Antrim Cup, Martin Douglas’ side were bidding to complete a clean sweep of Final appearances this season when they locked horns with the Glens at The Bangor Fuels Arena.
Unfortunately for the Reds, their opponents were in clinical form and raced into a two-goal lead courtesy of a double from Ali McMaster, sister of our own Emma.
Niamh Connolly pulled one back to give Cliftonville a fighting chance only for Caragh Milligan to restore Glentoran’s two-goal advantage on the stroke of half-time.
The east Belfast side further asserted their dominance after the interval, with Rachel Rogan registering a brace of her own to complete a 5-1 success that sends the Glens through to face Linfield Ladies in the Final.
