Fan-tastic start

The Red Army turned out in their numbers to break two NI Football League records on Saturday – and we’d love more of the same when Cliftonville host Coleraine this weekend.

The combined attendance of 2,920 at The Oval for the Reds’ dramatic 2-1 victory over Glentoran was a record opening day crowd over the 10-year period since such figures were catalogued.

Indeed, the overall turnout of 8,960 fans across the initial weekend of Danske Bank Premiership action was an increase of 2,576 on the previous record, set on the opening day of last season.

So if you spent your summer Saturdays being dragged to garden centres, supermarkets, museums and – shudder – the in-laws by your other half, why not treat them to Solitude this weekend and add another voice to the Red Army roar when Cliftonville do battle with the Bannsiders?
