A case in points

Barry Gray has called on Cliftonville to produce a strong finish to the season, starting with this evening’s Danske Bank Premiership clash against Ballymena United at The Showgrounds.

Just a fortnight has passed since the teams last met – the Sky Blues inflicting the Reds’ sole defeat from their last six outings – and two sides who are very familiar with one another are poised to set up another intriguing encounter in the first round of Premiership post-split fixtures.

“Our form has been good recently and we have seriously improved upon where we were a few months ago,” explains Gray.

“That’s all down to the players. They deserve the credit for how they have turned things around and our results over the last month demonstrate that.

“Winning on Saturday to get into the Irish Cup Final is great for everyone associated with the Club and I’m sure our supporters are really looking forward to it, but we have five big League games to come before that.

“We want to get as many points on the board as we can over the next few weeks to build on what we’ve done lately. Every game is going to be a really tough test because you’re now playing teams who are in the mix for something, so that requires big performances all round and hopefully we can produce them on a consistent basis between now and the end of the season.”
