Semi Final rearranged

The League Cup Semi Final between Cliftonville and Ballymena United will be played this Saturday, February 10 – with provisional knock-in implications for the following week.

Originally scheduled for December 12 and rearranged for January 16, the fixture was postponed for a third time last night when The Showgrounds pitch was once again deemed unplayable.

With the competition’s Final – where Dungannon Swifts await – set to take place on February 17, the NI Football League have taken the decision to pencil the remaining last-four clash in for this weekend, forcing the postponement of the Reds’ Danske Bank Premiership fixture with Warrenpoint Town.

Cliftonville will instead travel to face the ‘Point next Tuesday, February 13, however supporters are advised that next weekend’s scheduled Premiership home fixture with Linfield will be rearranged subject to various permutations.

If the Reds defeat Ballymena in Saturday’s tie, the encounter with the Blues (currently slated for Friday, February 16) will be postponed due to its proximity to the League Cup Final the following day.

Should Cliftonville lose their Semi Final battle with the Sky Blues, the Linfield game will be played on Saturday the 17th with a 3pm start.

If, however, the League Cup game with Ballymena is postponed again, it and the Final will be rearranged for alternative dates in the future and the Reds’ Premiership tie with the Blues will assume the Final’s Sky Sports slot at 5.30pm on the 17th.
