Lav and kicking

Ross Lavery says that confidence is high in the camp as Cliftonville prepare to welcome Glenavon to Solitude on Danske Bank Premiership duty this weekend.

The Reds are in the midst of a rewarding winning streak but are, insists Lavery, fully aware of the threat that will be posed by the likewise in-form Lurgan Blues tomorrow.

“From the start of the season we’ve just built our way into it and obviously it’s about confidence – how to train well and how to play well and getting the crowd behind us as well has given us confidence,” he explains.

“Glenavon will always be a challenging game for us… We’re just worried about ourselves and getting the results on table. Performing week in, week out is our main priority.”

You can read the full Lavery interview in tomorrow’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for £2.50.

Alongside boss Barry Gray’s pre-game views, The Red Eye’s 14th issue of the campaign reviews the visitors’ season to date, provides your latest player poster and turns the clock back 17, 45 and 95 years – plus plenty more besides.

Our Matchday Magazine has attained a top-three position in the NI Football Programme Collectors’ annual awards poll for the last six seasons so, if you’re not a regular reader, why not take a look at what you’ve been missing out on?
