Family affair

Rory Donnelly says he’s excited by the prospect of linking up with younger brother Jay following his return to the Club.

The duo lined out alongside one another for the first time in last week’s Danske Bank Premiership clash with Ballymena United and, though the result didn’t go Cliftonville’s way on that occasion, Donnelly is raring for his big homecoming against Dungannon Swifts tomorrow.

“It’s the first time I’ve been able to play alongside Jay,” he explains. “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and I think he feels the same way so I’m just glad we’re going to get the opportunity.

“It feels great to be back. It took a while getting things done but I’m just thankful it’s all done and sorted. I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t wanted to do pull on the Red shirt again for the past three or four years.”

You can catch up with the Donnelly siblings in tomorrow’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for the usual price of just £2.

Alongside boss Barry Gray’s pre-game views, The Red Eye’s fourth issue of the campaign recalls our Under 12s’ pre-season trip to England, provides supporters with the latest addition to their 2017/18 poster collection and takes our traditional steps down memory lane – plus plenty more besides.

Our Matchday Magazine has attained a top-three position in the NI Football Programme Collectors’ annual awards poll for the last six seasons so, if you’re not a regular reader, why not take a look at what you’ve been missing out?
