Mark it down!

Conor McDermott’s outrageous effort in Saturday’s 4-0 victory over Warrenpoint Town might be grabbing worldwide headlines, but it was Cliftonville’s opener that delivered the day’s most significant milestone.

For, in addition to being his first strike for the Club, Mark McKee’s 23rd minute finish was the Reds’ 4200th League goal.

It’s only appropriate, however, that McDermott’s stunning attempt from inside his own half two minutes later should be noted for a landmark of its own and goes down as Cliftonville’s 1300th Premiership strike.

At the other end of the park, goalkeeper Richard Brush registered another clean sheet that means he has shipped just one goal in 561 minutes of football – but even that was noteworthy in itself, with Glenavon’s conversion in last week’s clash at Mourneview Park the 10900th occasion the Reds have conceded in competitive action and 1100th time in the Premiership.

On a more positive note, however, and for those keeping count, Ryan Curran’s second-half penalty against the Point means Cliftonville have now found the net a total of 7892 times!
