Fourmidable

Billie Simpson has this evening been named Women’s Football Personality of the Year at the NI Football Awards to complete a remarkable quadruple of accolades.

Having already been named last season’s Danske Bank Women’s Premiership Player of the Year and Personality of the County Antrim Cup, the Cliftonville Ladies defender was crowned Ulster Women’s Footballer of the Year last month and made it a fantastic four when she saw off the challenge of Everton’s Simone Magill and Rachel Furness of Reading to earn her latest honour, which was jointly voted for by the NI Football Writers’ Association and NI Football League.

There was, in addition, a familiar reward for Joe Gormley, whose strikes in last week’s Europa League Play-Offs ensured the successful defence of the Irish League Golden Boot, which he shared with Linfield’s fellow 29-goal striker Andy Waterworth.

The congratulations of everyone at Solitude are extended to Billie – who will return to action when Cliftonville Ladies travel to take on Linfield Ladies in the Premiership on Wednesday evening – and Joe on the latest additions to their personal trophy cabinets.
