Supporters in attendance at the weekend’s Danske Bank Premiership victory over Ards were granted a glimpse of some stars of Cliftonville’s future when our Under 6 players took on their counterparts from St Malachy’s Old Boys Youth.

Staged as part of the player pathway partnership between the Clubs, two teams from both sides took to the pitch to keep fans entertained during the half-time interval of Saturday’s match and, with no shortage of enthusiasm and well-taken goals, the players’ efforts were well received by the Red Army, who gave all participants a rousing reception once the action came to a halt.

The affiliation between Cliftonville and St Malachy’s sees both Clubs working together to develop young players to the best of their potential, with talents in the St Malachy’s structure being afforded a formal opportunity to progress into the Irish League with the Reds from Under 12 level onwards.

Everyone at Solitude extends thanks to all players and coaches involved in arranging Saturday’s games and we look forward to welcoming St Malachy’s back as our guests again in the near future.
