Don’t incurr a setback: Ryan

Ryan Curran says there can be no underestimation of Ards when the North Down side visit Solitude on Danske Bank Premiership duty tomorrow.

Not only was the midweek loss to Glenavon their first defeat in seven outings, it also saw Ards concede their first League goals since the middle of August – statistics which Curran says demonstrate precisely how disciplined an opponent Cliftonville will face.

“They’ll come and make it difficult,” says the 24-year-old.

“They’ve signed well in the summer and they’re a decent side and you know what you’ll get with them. We’re expecting another tough game and because we’re at home, we’re always expecting to win and get another three points.”

You can read the full Curran interview in tomorrow’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for £2.50.

Alongside boss Barry Gray’s pre-match views, The Red Eye’s eighth issue of the campaign reflects on Ards’ campaign to date, delivers the latest addition to your poster collection and steps 74, 34 and 21 years back down memory lane, plus plenty more besides.

Our Matchday Magazine has attained a top-three position in the NI Football Programme Collectors’ annual awards poll for the last seven seasons – assuming the runners-up position on six of those occasions – so, if you’re not a regular reader, why not take a look at what you’ve been missing out on?
