Meal a minute

Cliftonville Football Club once again places on record our sincere thanks to everyone who has ensured a full house at tomorrow’s Matchday Lunch.

With every ticket sold, another memorable occasion awaits and, as we look forward to the company of former Reds midfielder Peter Murray, all supporters are asked to ensure they are seated in sufficient time for proceedings getting underway.

Scheduled to start at 12.30pm, the event will comprise a two-course lunch with wine, followed by tea or coffee and will include a complimentary Matchday Magazine and admission to Cliftonville’s Danske Bank Premiership fixture with Ards.

Prior to kick-off, however, Murray will enthrall the crowd at Cliftonville Bowling Club with tales from his time as both a player and Assistant Manager at Solitude.

A gifted midfield talent, Minto made the first of 331 Reds appearances in an Ulster Cup clash with Distillery on August 17, 1985 and, following spells with Portadown and Ballymena United between 1992-1999, brought the curtain down on his playing days when Cliftonville beat Glenavon 2-1 in a League fixture on April 30, 2001.

The final of his 47 goals came in a Windsor Park victory over Linfield a year earlier, however Peter would return to Solitude in a backroom capacity under the management of Tommy Breslin, alongside whom he helped the Club celebrate two Danske Bank Premiership titles, three League Cup crowns and a brace of County Antrim Shield honours – some of which might just get a mention during tomorrow’s sold-out event.
