An August start
Last night’s 5-1 victory over Lisburn Distillery saw Cliftonville bring the curtain down on a mixed bag of August action – but who was your stand-out player from our first five matches of the season?
The month started with a dramatic last-gasp 2-1 win over Glentoran in the Danske Bank Premiership and, after falling victim to a Coleraine late show at Solitude, the Reds again hit the target in the closing minutes when they rescued a draw against Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park.
It was Linfield’s turn to strike a late equaliser when Cliftonville were held at Solitude on Saturday, while last night’s League Cup defeat of the Whites mantained the tradition of there having been a goal in the final four minutes of every game to date this term.
