Tribute to Aoife
Aoife Doyle was remembered ahead of kick-off in both of Cliftonville’s matches this evening.
Reds supporters joined their Linfield counterparts in a minute’s applause at the Clearer Twist Stadium, where Aoife’s image appeared on the screen as part of a poignant tribute that we are very grateful to the Blues for facilitating.
At Solitude, meanwhile, Cliftonville Ladies and Derry City Women likewise showed their appreciation for Aoife, who will be much missed following her tragic loss earlier this week.
A lifelong Reds supporter who epitomised the volunteer spirit that has long been at the very fabric of the Club, there were few roles that Aoife didn’t demonstrate an enthusiastic disposition for.
The chances are that if you’ve enquired at The Reds Shop, purchased a Half Gate Draw ticket or needed a steward’s guidance at Solitude in recent years, Aoife will have made a personal contribution to your matchday experience.
Even our recent Community Fun Day saw Aoife (above, second from right) lend her valuable assistance to a variety of tasks as she once again did her utmost to ensure that as many people as possible extracted maximum enjoyment from the occasion.
Leaving us at just 27 years old, Aoife will be fondly remembered and appreciated by Cliftonville supporters of all generations, and we extend our deepest condolences to her friends and family at this most distressing of times.
May she rest in peace.
