Scottish central defender Alex emerged through the youth ranks at Queen’s Park and spent a spell on loan at Edinburgh University before signing a professional contract with the Spiders in 2022, with one of his first appearances for the Glasgow side coming in their SPFL Trust Trophy victory over the Reds at Solitude that same year.
After moving to Burton Albion for an undisclosed fee in 2024, Bannon enjoyed loan stints with Airdrieonians – where he was a team-mate of his fellow summer Cliftonville recruit Dean McMaster – and Derry City, for whom he made 16 appearances.
