Strike up the Bann
Cliftonville Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Alex Bannon.
The 22-year-old central defender emerged through the youth ranks at Queen’s Park and spent a spell on loan at Edinburgh University before signing a professional contract with the Spiders in 2022, with one of his first appearances for the Glasgow side coming in their SPFL Trust Trophy victory over the Reds at Solitude that same year.
After moving to Burton Albion for an undisclosed fee in 2024, Bannon enjoyed loan stints with Airdrieonians – where he was a team-mate of his fellow new Cliftonville recruit Dean McMaster – and Derry City, for whom he made 16 appearances last year.
This morning unveiled as Jim Magilton’s seventh new addition of the summer, we are sure our fans will be very pleased to offer Alex a warm welcome back to the home of Ireland’s Oldest Football Club.
